Find my best girls rainbow room inspiration in this post. A bright and fun space that any girl would love!
I’m doing my first client project for a 2 year old toddler girl. This room is going to be so fun because I don’t have any daughters, but have a lot of creative juices of projects I’ve dreamed of. I’ve added fun elements to my shared boys room like a growth chart.
I’m designing the space for her now, but also something she can grow into so we don’t have to decorate again in a year or 2. I also love that every piece of furniture has a history. It’s been passed down from her older brother and sister. Plus, it’s great for the environment that I’ll be upcycling many of these furniture pieces!
There are 7 main elements for a girls rainbow room:
- Craft corner
- Gallery wall
- Reading nook
- Fun Dresser
- Feature wall
- Toy Storage
- Design elements (rug and light)
There are so many options for a feature wall. It can be as simple as wall decals which any level of DIYer can do, or painting your own mural!
A craft corner is perfect to let kids explore their creativity. This corner consists of a kids sized table and chairs, and storage for colour books, markers, crayons etc. Anything to let them get creative
A Gallery wall is so fun in a kids room. The artwork can include family photos, cute sayings and artwork. The frames can be neutral like black or wood, or go bold with bright colour frames
Early literacy is important for a life long love of reading. Create a cozy reading nook with floor pillows, a canopy and bookshelves that is accessible for kids.
All kids need a place to store clothes. Make it fun with a painted dresser or simply changing the knobs
A place to tuck away and store toys is so important. My 2 tips for toy organization are using labelled bins (especially with picture labels since toddlers can’t read) and vertical storage to maximize the space
Rug and Lighting
Tie the room together with some fun lighting and a rug. My preference is to neutral on these pieces so they have more longevity and are investment pieces. But, this is the one change to make a big statement in a space with fun lighting.
